Adama Nanguin, known as THE NEW PYRAMID, is an Ivorian-American visual artist based in New York. Born on March 25, 1995, in Katiola, Côte d’Ivoire, Adama draws inspiration from his rich cultural heritage and the vibrant urban landscapes that have shaped his artistic perspective.
Raised in Abidjan, Adama attended School Group Rodin and I.P.E.S before fleeing the civil unrest that gripped Côte d’Ivoire between 2010 and 2011. In 2012, he and his mother sought refuge in New York City, where he embraced a new chapter of life, marked by resilience and hope. He graduated from Brooklyn International High School, carrying with him the transformative experiences of his journey.
In 2013, Adama began to explore his creative potential through an internship at Beam Center Community, mastering skills in carpentry, metalworking, woodworking, and electronics. His
artistic repertoire expanded as his work found expression across diverse mediums, including gallery exhibitions, interior design, music album covers, magazines, commercial public art, and
custom fashion.
Between 2013 and 2015, Adama participated in the Leaders in Training (L.I.T.) program with the International Rescue Committee, further refining his craft and leadership abilities. By 2021, his artistic ambitions culminated in the "Road to 50 States" project, sponsored by Pharma Almanac, while simultaneously designing for Tesla and Lamborghini Urus—a testament to his creative versatility and boundless vision.
Adama’s artistic identity is a journey of transformation and discovery. Deeply rooted in the traditions of the Senufo people, his work bridges the past and present, weaving the essence of
community, spirituality, and interconnectedness into a modern context. Adama's art serves as both a tribute to his heritage and an invitation for others to engage with the profound richness of
Senufo culture.
Through his art, Adama inspires dialogue across cultures, blending tradition with innovation. Hiswork is a celebration of strength, resilience, and the beauty of human spirit—offering a window into the transformative power of creativity and the enduring legacy of his ancestors.
